Eli Cohen

Instruments – Piano, Guitar

The grandson of the founder of Rice University’s conservatory and great-grandson of the founder of Turkey’s National Opera Conservatory, Eli Cohen comes from a long line of musicians and has been playing since the age of five, when he began piano lessons in his hometown of Middlebury, Vermont. He picked up the guitar at 13 and soon began writing his own songs and performing in bands and busking around Burlington, Vermont. He studied music and creative writing at Skidmore College and in the time since then has become an accomplished performer and teacher, specializing in classical and contemporary piano, pop guitar, and songwriting.

Eli’s lesson focus on mastery of technique and reading comprehension, improvisation/composition, and preparing for performances such as ViBO’s quarterly recitals. He lives in San Francisco and works as a writer when not teaching music.
