Janet Yu-Chen Yang
Violist Janet Yu-Chen Yang is a Taiwanese violist / violinist. She is a violist with a passion for expressive performance. Janet believes the most important thing is to let the music touch people’s hearts and to express the emotions that one wants to share with people. Janet currently studies with Dimitri Murrath at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music where she will earn a bachelor’s degree of music in viola performance. Prior to attending the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, she attended Colburn Music Academy and earned her high school degree. During her studies, she has participated in the 2015 and 2016 Formosa chamber music festival, the 2015 Meister music camp, the 2017 Viva Viola Music Festival in Taiwan, 2019 Taipei Music Academy Festival, and the 2018 and 2020 Bowdoin Music Festival. She has studied chamber music with members of Guarneri and Telegraph String Quartets. Janet has also received instruction from Katherine Murdock, Hsin-Yun Huang, Wen-ting Kang, Catharine Carroll Lees, Paul Coletti, Che-Yen Chen, Ivo-Jan van der Werff, Jessica Bodner, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Aziuri String Quartet, Formosa String Quartet among others.
